Back Lift Procedures

Do you struggle with excess skin on your back above or below your bra line that prevents you from achieving your ideal look? Whether it’s from weight loss, age related changes, or simply genetics, loose skin can be frustrating and hinder your physical appearance. If you’re considering a solution, a back lift (also known as a torsoplasty) could help you achieve a more sculpted, defined back and enhance your overall body contours. At Kreitzberg Plastic Surgery in Tulsa, we specialize in this transformative aesthetic procedure that removes excess skin, offering you a more toned and youthful look.

Benefits of a Back Lift Procedure

back lift is an effective way to address sagging skin, particularly after weight loss. The procedure improves the shape of your bra line, upper back, and/or lower back creating a flatter, defined contour.

Some of the key benefits include:

  • Improved body contours: Remove stubborn, excess skin around the back and waist area.
  • Enhanced self-confidence: Feel more confident in swimsuits, fitness clothes, or any attire that showcases your back.

Long-lasting results: Once healed, the results can be permanent, offering lasting improvement in skin tone and contour.

What to Expect During a Back Lift Procedure

At Kreitzberg Plastic Surgery, we prioritize patient comfort and safety. Here’s what you can expect when undergoing a back lift:

  1. Consultation: The process begins with a detailed consultation, where our Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Kreitzberg, will assess your unique concerns and goals. We’ll discuss the best approach for your back lift procedure and educate you regarding risks and recovery after the procedure to ensure you’re a good candidate.
  2. Anesthesia: The back lift is performed under general anesthesia, ensuring that you are comfortable and pain-free during the procedure.
  3. Surgical Procedure: Dr. Kreitzberg will make precise incisions in the targeted area, remove excess skin, and carefully tighten the remaining tissue. The procedure typically lasts 3-6 hours, depending on the type of back lift procedure.
  4. Recovery: Patients can go home the same day after the procedure, as it is performed as an outpatient surgery. Initial recovery may involve some swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort, but most patients can return to work and normal activities within 10-14 days.  You will wear compression garments for 6 weeks.  You can return to the gym in 6 weeks with some restrictions until 3 months from the procedure.  Full recovery can take a few weeks, but the results are long-lasting and worth the wait.  Final results are obtained at 9 months.

Types of Back Lift Procedures

At Kreitzberg Plastic Surgery in Tulsa, we offer three primary types of back lift procedures to cater to your specific needs:

  1. Limited incision Back Lift
The lift focuses on the bra line to tighten and remove excess skin with a more limited incision. This procedure removes excess skin of the upper back and axilla with a vertically oriented incision hidden under the armpit and along the side of the breast.
  2. Traditional Back Lift
The upper back lift targets the area along the bra line as well as lifting and tightening the lower back, addressing loose skin around the upper back, bra line, sides, and even the underarms. The incision is oriented horizontally from the midline of the back to the lateral breast (along the area of a bra strap).
  3. Lateral torsoplasty
A lateral torsoplasty lifts, tightens, and removes skin of the upper back, lower back, axilla, flanks, and abdomen.  The incision is vertically oriented from the armpit to the hip. It is a continuation of the limited incision back lift to incorporate the flanks, lower back, and abdomen for a more contoured figure.
